White borage flower (Borago officinalis alba). This cultivated annual herb has a long history of use in herbal medicine. It is thought to have soothing effects when used as a gargle for sore throats and mouth ulcers. It is also used to treat lung problems and to reduce fever. The leaves contain small amounts of liver-toxic alkaloids but are still edible.
