The area seen is about 90 kilometres from top to bottom. The M6 Toll (visible when image magnified) is 43.5 kilometres long and is just below centre, running around north Birmingham. Other cities (purple) include Stoke (top left), Coventry (bottom right) and Derby (top right). This image combines visible and infrared light. It was obtained by the Landsat 7 satellite.
