Tiger tracking. Wildlife wardens and elephant riders, known as mahouts, tracking tigers at the Panna National Park, India. An estimated 2,000 to 4,000 tigers exist in the wild in India, mostly within national parks. Increasing human population and encroachment onto tiger territory have been blamed for the rising number of attacks on humans. Tigers can be identified by the size and shape of their paw prints. Individuals that repeatedly attack humans are removed from the park and kept captive in a zoo.
