Nanofoam material, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). This material, marketed under the name Isitect, is produced using plastic polymers and nanoscale frameworks. It can be used to insulate, buildings, cars, aeroplanes and refrigerators and is less bulky than traditional insulating materials. Isitect is manufactured by BASF. Magnification: x12,000 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
