Father Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897), German hydrotherapist. Kneipp contracted pulmonary tuberculosis, which he cured by taking short dips in the icy waters of the Danube. His cure was due to the stimulation of his immune system, which resulted in the tuberculosis going into remission. In 1886 he wrote My Water Cure, which resulted in thousands of pilgrims travelling to his ministry in Bavaria.
