William Henry Maw (1838-1924), British astronomer and engineer. Maw's career was as an engineer, becoming President of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 1922. In his spare time, though, he was an astronomer, building a private observatory in 1887, and erecting another telescope in 1896. He was also a member of the Board of the National Physical Laboratory. He was President of the Royal Astronomical Society (1905-1907).
