On display (from left to right) are: Ryan NYP insSpirit of St. Louisins (1927), which made the fist solo transatlantic flight; SpaceShipOne (2004), the first privately developed and piloted craft in space; Bell X-1 insGlamorous Glennisins (1947), the first supersonic aircraft; Mariner 2 (1962), the first spacecraft to study another planet; Bell XP- 59A Airacomet (1942), the first American turbojet; two nuclear missiles; and North American X-15, the first winged aircraft to achieve Mach 4, 5 and 6 and to operate higher than 30,500 metres.
