It was first identified in 1984 in the maize plant (Zea mays), one of the world's major food crops. This virus also infects other cereal crop plants, such as wheat, barley, and sorghum. Symptoms are yellow stripes on the leaves. The virus is transmitted by the leafhopper insect Cicadulina chinai. It is found in Egypt. Magnification: x92,000 when printed 10cm high.
