This image shows the malignant cells (stained light purple at bottom left half of image) surrounded by small, black-stained white blood cells (neut- rophils). The malignant cells have symptomatic large nuclei and are of an abnormal shape. The cancer is seen beginning to invade the cells underlying the cervical epithelium, known as the stromal region (at upper right image).
