Microinvasive cervical cancer. Light micrograph of a section through the squamous epithelium of a hu- man cervix with microinvasive carcinoma. This image shows the malignant cells (stained light purple at bottom left half of image) surrounded by small, black-stained white blood cells (neut- rophils). The malignant cells have symptomatic large nuclei and are of an abnormal shape. The cancer is seen beginning to invade the cells underlying the cervical epithelium, known as the stromal region (at upper right image). Such invasive cancers account for about 90% of all primary cancers of the cervix. Haematoxylin & Eo- sin stained cells. Magnification:x200 at 35mm size.
