Human brain. Work of art by Canadian artist Verle Harrop depicting 40 human brain scans, made from multimedia. It is titled: insRemote Sensing 8: Data vs Visionins (1989). Contructed mainly of textiles, these collages show axial views through the human head, as would be achieved by an MRI scanner. The brain appears within the cranium. Brainwaves depicting brain function, together with gadgets such as computer circuit boards are used. The artist uses multimedia to create vivid images that juxtapose the human brain with technology. Verle Harrop specialises in neurological imaging and is artist-in-residence at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada.
