Radcliffe Observatory, Oxford, UK. This observatory at Green College, Oxford University, was designed by James Wyatt, who was said to be inspired by the 1st century BC Tower of Winds in Athens. It was completed in 1794 and functioned as an observatory for 160 years before the owners decided to sell it and erect a new observatory in the less polluted atmosphere of Pretoria, South Africa. The original instruments are located in the Museum of the History of Science in central Oxford.
