Common kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) on a perch with a fish in its beak. This bird is found near water throughout Europe, Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. It hunts fish and invertebrates by perching or hovering over water and diving to catch them with its long bill. It nests in upward-sloping tunnels in muddy banks. It can grow up to 15 centimetres in length. Photographed in June in Kent, UK.
