Mount Kenya, 17,058 feet, is Africa's second highest snow-capped mountain. The plants in the foreground are giant groundsel or tree senecio (Senecio johnstonii ssp battiscombei), one of several plant species displaying afro-montane gigantism that flourish above 10,000 feet. They flower every ten years or so.
