A Himba man stands in rocky ground among baobab trees. He has the traditional hairstyle of a married man, known as ondumbu. The hair is piled high on the crown of the head and covered with a cloth. Years ago, his pleated front and rear garments would have been made of leather. Himba of both sexes wear ombwari _ heavy, round necklaces made with white beads. The Himba are Herero-speaking Bantu nomads who live in the harsh, dry but starkly beautiful landscape of remote northwest Namibia. Purros
