Situated on the eastern edge of Etosha Pan, Namutoni is a beautiful beau geste style fort used for tourist accommodation. It dates back to the turn of the last century when it was built as a German police post. It was later used as an army base and for housing British prisoners-of-war during World War I. It was restored to its present state in 1957.
