Universal blood type manufacturing. Researcher preparing a petri dish of cultured bacteria. The enzymes produced by these bacteria are capable of stripping the surface of human red blood cells, removing the receptors responsible for creating the AB blood type. These enzymes are being used to develop a technique to produce red blood cells that will be accepted by anyone, regardless of their blood type. Photographed at the Aix-Marseille University, France.
