Droplets of dew on the surface of flower buds of a fox-tail lily (Eremerus x isobellinus). The aerial surfaces of most flowering plants are hydrophobic (water repellent) due to the presence of waxes. Water condensing on such a surface tends to form spherical particles. This is because a sphere has the minimum surface area for a given volume, and water has an unusually high surface tension.
