Martian crater rim. Coloured satellite image of a fractured crater rim in Arabia Terra, northern Mars. It is thought the crater once held a large lake, which deposited sediments, seen here as rippled sand. Image obtained by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) on 11th November 2008. The width of this image is roughly 1.2 kilometres across.
