It was opened in September 2008, and carries both road traffic and pedestrians. The total length is 670 metres. The central span, which can be lifted to a height of 55 metres by the cables and pulleys on the supporting pylons, is 100 metres long. The pylons are 86 metres tall. This bridge is one of the largest lift bridges in Europe. It was named after a 19th century French novelist from Rouen.
