Cat's eye. The eyes of cats are adapted for night vision by the presence of a structure behind the retina called the tapetum lucidum. This reflects light that passes through the retina back into the eye. Cats also have large pupils, but in domestic cats (Felis catus) the pupils form a slit shape to reduce chromatic aberration. In low light levels a domestic cat's pupil will expand to cover most of its eye. Despite this, domestic cats have poor color vision.
