MODEL RELEASED. Titration experiment. Student using a beaker and funnel to add an alkaline solution to a burette as part of a titration experiment. The most common sort of titration involves measuring the volume of alkali needed to neutralize an acid solution. The acid solution (not yet prepared) will be in the conical flask (lower left). The burette tap (lower left) will then be used to add the alkali until a chemical indicator shows the reaction endpoint has been reached. The measured alkali volume is compared to the known volume of acid, giving information on reaction chemistry and chemical concentrations.
