Ingredients could have included game, meat from domesticated animals, birds, fish, cereals such as wheat barley and oats, fruit, legumes and other vegetables. Agriculture and a settled way of life started earlier in Neolithic times and had become well established by the Bronze Age. Animals such as cattle, pigs, goats and sheep were kept to supply meat and milk. Cereals were cultivated and the ears ground into flour and baked as round unleavened loaves. Fruit and vegetables were consumed fresh and dried and stored, where possible. Beer, mead and wine were produced, depending on the local climate. Dogs may have been domesticated as early as 30, 000 BC and certainly by 7, 000 BC. By the Bronze Age ( circa 3000 -1000 BC) the partnership between humans and dogs was well established.Pottery and the first metal blades were in use.
