Empty spider's nest on a leaf in a tropical rainforest. The eggs were laid on the leaf and covered with a protective cocoon spun from the spider's silk. The spider (order Araneae) then guarded the cocoon-like nest until the eggs hatched and the spiderlings were ready to leave, at which point the spider cut open the cover. Photographed in Ecuador.
