Historical woodcut illustration of the fruit and leaves of the cacao tree (Theobroma cacao). The caco tree is native to the tropical region of the Americas, but is now widely cultivated. Its seeds are used to make coca powder and chocolate. The generic name theobroma means food of the gods and was coined by Linneaus in 1753. This woodcut comes from Old Worm's Museum Wormianum, published at Amsterdam in 1655.
