Spiral galaxy M81, composite image. M81 is around 12 million light years from Earth, in the constellation of Ursa Major. It has a supermassive black hole at its centre. This image was obtained by the Chandra X-ray Observatory (blue), Hubble Space Telescope (visible light, green), the Spitzer Space Telescope (infrared, pink), and the Galaxy Evolution Explorer Orbiter(GALEX, ultraviolet, purple).
