Ross's gull (Rhodostethia rosea), 19th century artwork. This seabird breeds in the high Arctic of North America and Siberia. In winter it only moves southwards a short distance, still staying in northern waters. It feeds on swampy coasts and estuaries, taking food similar to that of waders, such as small insects and crustaceans and other seafood. Artwork printed in 1866.
