Moon rock sample. Sample of lunar rock collected by Apollo 17 astronauts from the Taurus-Littrow region of the Moon. This is a sample of breccia, a type of rock formed from surface material smashed and melted by meteoric impacts. Apollo 17 landed on the Moon on 11th December 1972. It was the last Apollo mission. Photographed at the Lunar Receiving Laboratory, Houston, Texas, USA.
