Portable X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. Clock expert using a portable X-ray fluorescence spectroscope to analyse the metals used on an antique clock. This analytical technique uses X-rays to induce fluorescence used to identify elemental metals. This work is being carried out for Leeds Museums and Galleries, West Yorkshire, UK, on a clock built by the English clockmaker John Harrison (1693-1776).
