False-colour transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a melanocyte, a melanin producing cell from human malignant melanoma. An overproduction of melanin (a skin pigment) is indicated by the small black areas around the periphery of the cell. The cell nucleus has the appearance of a fried egg, with a central dark nucleolus. Malignant melanoma is an aggressive form of skin cancer. Magnification: X 1,538 at 35mm size.
