Turtle. Underwater view of a loggerhead turtle, Caretta caretta, a species which has adapted to a marine lifestyle. It swims using its front fins for locomotion and its rear ones as rudders. Loggerhead turtles live in shallow bays near the coast and mainly feed on crabs and other crustaceans, mussels and other marine invertebrates; sometimes they eat fish and plants. Hunting and human encroachment onto the beaches that the turtles use as nesting sites has threated the survival of the loggerhead turtle. Photographed near the Great Barrier Reef, Australia.
