Vanadinite mineral sample. This rare mineral contains the elements lead, chlorine and vanadium. It usually occurs in the direct vicinity of lead ores. Its crystals (often tabular in shape) have a characteristic orange-red colour. This specimen, from Morocco, is 11 centimetres across.
