Schapbachite mineral sample. This mineral is a sulphide that contains the metals silver and bismuth. It usually occurs as grey-black, needle-like crystals, here in an underlying white matrix. This sample, from Schapbach in the Schwarzwald area of southern Germany, is 4.5 centimetres across.
