Superconductor simulation. Computer model showing superconducting 'puddles' in a high-temperature (high Tc) superconductor. In this context, high-temperature refers to the temperature (Curie temperature, Tc) at which the material being modelled here becomes a superconductor (able to freely conduct electricity). This temperature is still very cold, but relatively much higher than the temperatures at which superconductivity is normally observed. This is an example of computational models being used to predict the properties of new materials.
