Moyse Charas (1619-1698), French apothecary, making notes and pointing at laboratory glassware. A snake is at lower right, a reference to the work he had done on snakebites. Charas was made a member of the French Academy of Sciences in 1692. This artwork is from the French Bibliotheque des Arts Decoratifs (Library of Decorative Arts). Originally from the 1678 edition of Charas's 'Pharmacopee Royale' (1676), this artwork was by L'Anglois after Potier.
