This Geyser is located in the Lower Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park in the USA. The colourful deposits at the base of the geyser are chemosynthetic thermophile bacteria which do not require sunlight to thrive. Such Geysers are researched by scientists looking for evidence of life on other planets where chemosynthesis may occur.
