Extremely well made and clearly fashioned after textile patterns, the mosaic depicts two gazelles browsing the leaves of a tree while, on the other side of the composition, a lion devours another gazelle. The scene is usually interpreted as an allegory of the Omayyade power the sweetness of living under the omayyade rule and the rage of the kaliph caliph calif against his enemies. 2009 photograph.
