Rachel, Lady Russell (1636-1723), born Rachel Wriothesley, wife of William, Lord Russell 'the patriot', English Whig statesman. Acted as her husband's 'writer' during his trial for complicity in Rye House Plot, 1683. Russell was found guilty of treason and beheaded. Stipple engraving after portrait in Woburn Abbey.
