Dead nettle (Lamium album). This is a medicinal plant which has been used to treat fevers, diarrhoea and bladder infections. It is not related to the stinging nettle, but looks very similar to it. This similarity is thought to be a form of mimicry, the harmless dead nettle gaining protection from predators due to its resemblance to the poisonous stinging nettle. The main difference is that the stinging nettle does not have the large white flowers (upper centre). The dead nettle shares the same habitat as the stinging nettle, growing on wasteland in temperate regions.
