Gene testing. 'Body Benefits - nutrition' is a pack comprising swabs (lower right) for obtaining a DNA sample, and a lifestyle questionnaire (lower left). The swab is brushed on the inside of the cheek, sealed in the tube and sent away for analysis. Seven genes are assessed relating to skin and hair repair, free radical damage, detoxification and alcohol metabolism. The questionnaire investigates diet, weight control, smoking and exercise. A report is produced describing how variations in genes may influence how well the body metabolises foods and excretes toxins. The report presents individual advice for improving diet and lifestyle.
