Sir Frederick Treves (1853-1923), English surgeon. Treves is most famous through two of his patients. he performed an appendicectomy on Edward VII two days before his coronation, from which the King made a speedy recovery. He also treated Joseph Merrick, also known as the Elephant Man, who is thought to have suffered from Proteus syndrome.
