Hodgkin's disease. Light micrograph of a section through lymphatic tissue in Hodgkin's disease. The disease is a type of lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes). This is the nodular sclerosis form, where broad bands of collagenous tissue (pink) enclose nodules (two seen) of lyphomatous (lymph cancer) tissue. These are composed of numerous lymphocytes (purple), a type of white blood cell. Lymphocytes are also seen scattered throughout the collagenous tissue. Treatment will involve a combination of surgery, radiotherapy and drug therapy. Early treatment is usually successful. Magnification unknown.
