Haemolytic jaundice. Light micrograph of a section through liver tissue in haemolytic jaundice. This is a type of jaundice where the colour of the skin turns yellow due to haemolysis, the destruction of red blood cells. The term can also refer to the preliminary stage before hepatic jaundice, arising from liver damage. Treatment of the liver damage or the blood disorder will relieve the symptoms.
