Atherosclerosis in large arteries is common in persons suffering from diabetes. Here, a section of the normal aorta appears at top centre in red, with a renal artery supplying the left kidney (right) also visible. Below this region the aorta appears to come to an abrupt end, with only fine vessels on right-side of image supplying the lower abdomen.
