Fungal infection on a patient's finger nails. This is tinea unguium, the infection of a nail with ringworm (tinea). Ringworm is caused by several types of fungus, such as Trichophyton, Microsporum or Epidermophyton fungi. Treatment involves keeping the infected area dry and using an anti- fungal powder. The nails may eventually grow back, though this will take a long time.
