Cricket ball injury to eye. Ophthalmoscope view of the injured retina in the eye of a patient due to impact by a cricket ball. A normal retina is uniformly pink. Here, the retina has detached in two places (upper right and lower left). The macula, the most light-sensitive region of the eye, is considerably darkened (at right) and much sub-retinal bleeding is seen around the retina. This kind of injury can result in damaged vision or blindness.
