Cerebral palsy. Six-year-old boy with cerebral palsy playing with a therapist. Cerebral palsy is a developmental abnormality caused by damage to the brain of a baby during late pregnancy, child- birth or early childhood. It can result in anything from slight weakness and lack of limb coordination, to complete paralysis. This child's special seating unit holds him securely in place and allows him to play and receive an education. Photographed in Moscow, Russia, where the Motivation Charitable Trust began a special seating project for children with cerebral palsy in 1994, in partnership with the Humanitarian Programmes Support Charity Foundation (HPSCF).
