MODEL RELEASED. Intensive care. Nurses conduct physiotherapy on the lungs of a man in a hospital intensive care unit. The patient has been taken off the respirator (at upper centre). The nurse at left is using an ambu bag to inflate the patient's lungs and provide them with added oxygen. The nurse at right taps on the patient's inflated chest to loosen any obstructions in the lungs, such as mucus. After this physiotherapy, mucus and other debris will be removed from the lungs with a suction device.
