Excess skin has already been removed. With age, skin loses its elasticity and muscles slacken. When this happens around the eyes it results in puffiness and drooping eyelids. Blepharoplasty is a procedure that removes excess skin, fat and muscles from the upper and/or lower eyelids. This leaves the patient looking younger and less tired. The surgery can be performed as a day procedure, under local anaesthetic. As with all surgery there is a risk of infection, excessive bleeding and other complications, including blindness.
