Osteopathy uses massage and manipulation to treat a range of disorders, based on knowledge of the musculoskeletal system. This device is utilised during therapy for trauma that has resulted in scar tissue formation, such as a broken limb. The device allows the practitioner to repeatedly smooth specific muscles along their lengths, which gently breaks away the adhesions caused from scar tissue. This device is also being used, following surgery, to aid in the healing process, specifically following surgery to correct repetitive strain injuries (RSI).
