MODEL RELEASED. Infant hearing test. Baby being given a distraction test to check his responsiveness to auditory stimuli. The tester (distractor, upper right) attracts the baby's attention by playing with an object. The object is gradually covered with the hands thereby removing the visual stimulus. At this point a sound stimulus is presented at one side of the baby's head by the rear tester. In this case the baby has responded to the sound by turning to look at the tester's hand (bottom left). By using sounds of different intensity the threshold level of hearing can be determined. This test is routinely used for patients between seven and eighteen months of age.
